1. Tile

A tile is a square piece of Hectare's world. Tiles can be occupied by various things. A tile's color indicates the amount of groundwater present. Dry tiles are tan, while wet tiles are dark green.

2. Field

Fields are where your people grow crops. Query a field with the Query Tool to see how much Water, Sun, and Nutrients it has. If you keep these levels in the correct range, your people's crops will flourish, providing food for the inhabitants of the nearby town.

3. Town

Towns are where your people live. The number of houses in a town represents the town's population. You can query the town to see more specific information. Increasing your total population will unlock more towns. Towns can be destroyed if their population drops too low!
Each town will eventually fill a 5x5 area with its fields, if possible. Make sure nothing is in the way!

4. Forest

Forests help the ground retain water by slowing evaporation, and produce nutrients which fertilize nearby tiles.
