Logisketch seeks to provide users with an intuitive system for sketching, editing, recognizing, and simulating logic circuits in a tablet environment.

This summer the Sketchers Research Team worked on both the recognition and the user interface of Logisketch.

The recognition team faced the goal of improving the recognition accuracy of the LogiSketch program. They worked to make the recognizer simpler and more understandable to programmers and users alike. More specifically, the team created a recognition system that will adapt to a user’s drawing style, resulting in near-perfect recognition rates after a number of sketches. Also, the team tried to improve the refinement portion of the recognition process, allowing the system to make sensible corrections, if necessary.

In terms of the user interface, the team worked on two different aspects of the system. First, they developed and tested a variety of new features and feedback mechanisms to increase usability and help users to more easily and intuitively fix recognition errors. Second, the team conducted an experiment investigating whether a specific feedback mechanism could lead the user to change his or her drawing style to produce more accurately recognized sketches.
