Harvey Mudd is in Claremont. If you try to find it on a map, it's
about 25 miles east of Pasadena, just south of the mountains, just
north of the 10 freeway, near Glendora, Pomona, and Ontario.
The Big PictureHarvey Mudd is near three near-parallel routes: the 210 freeway and Foothill Blvd, the 10 freeway, and the 60 freeway. The basic algorithm for getting here is to get onto one of these roads, then follow the local directions given below. Coming from the west or south, the 210 freeway is normally your best choice, because it tends to have the lightest traffic. Coming from the east, the 10 is usually best. The 60 is only useful as a backup in case of major traffic problems on the other two routes. Here are some approximate travel times from various locations and recommended routes. The travel times are for light to moderate traffic. If you have to be here at a particular time (e.g. to give or attend a talk), it is best to leave 30-45 minutes early. You will need this extra time if (for example) a big rig overturns on the freeway you are using. (For out-of-towners, a good traffic radio station is AM 980.) |

The Small PictureThe Computer Science Department is located on the ground floor of the Olin building, 1250 North Dartmouth Avenue. This is the only bulilding on the east side of Dartmouth Avenue between 12th street and Foothill Boulevard. Street parking is generally available on Dartmouth or on 12th. You may also park in the visitor's lot to the north of the building (Enter the lot from Foothill eastbound, and turn into the left-hand-side of the lot.)
The Olin building has a number of entrances. If you come in through the
main entrance which faces Dartmouth, pass the corridor on your right, veer
to the right of the stairwell, the Department office (Room 1258) will be on
your right.
