I enjoy writing letters of recommendation! Since it takes me some time to write a thoughtful letter, I ask that you help me by providing the following materials at least three weeks before the first letter is due.

1. A list of all of the schools and fellowships to which you are applying, with indication of the deadlines for letters of recommendation for each school. I will write and submit all of your letters at the same time, before the earliest deadline.
2. All forms that I must complete for each school. Most forms will require that you complete some parts. Please be very careful not to overlook any of your parts. In many cases, these forms will be electronic.
3. For each letter that must be submitted on paper, please include an addressed envelope (no postage necessary - I'll take care of that).
4. A carefully edited copy of your statement of purpose essay.
5. A brief resume including descriptions of your research and work experiences.
6. A copy of your academic transcripts (unofficial copy is fine) with an asterisk next to each course that you took with me.
7. The e-mail address where you would like me to write to you to indicate that the letters were submitted.
