CS 182 System Administration
Group Project 3
Due Date - 17 February
Introduction
This project
continues project 1.
You are to finish more of your installation
and document more of it.
Some additional features are added (see below).
Again,
I am looking for a well written report that discusses:
your machine,
modifications to your machine,
installation procedure,
configuration procedure,
file system set up,
device set up (software and hardware),
user set ups, etc.
You should
make sure to expand on the fact
that you installed something by
explaining
how you did it
Specific issues are probably best gleamed from
the first 13 chapters of the 'red book'.
What follows are
the additional features that your
system should now support:
-
Notice
-
Web service - but expand the web service by having pages
available that document your system.
-
DNS service - all systems should be a secondary to larry for the
oslab.
-
NFS service
-
Homer - make available to the lab the X sources
-
Mike - make available to the lab the gnu sources
-
Zuul - make available to the lab system tool sources,
e.g, tcpdump, snoop, netstat, and ?

what file systems are mounted for single user mode

-
add an alternative root, what are the boot commands
for the alternative root.

almost destroyed your installation.
The team is to maintain a detail log book which shows all
the administration activities.
