So who is Gordon Bell and why should we care about his view of history?
His history is interesting for a number of reasons...

• Shows the simultaneous development of many computers. Very little communication between developers.
• Computers were developed to solve scientific problems, not general purpose processing.
• If you are the author of a paper, you may get credit for all the work whether it is your original idea or a summary of other's ideas.
