So who is Alan Kay and why should we care about his view of history?
His of history is interesting for a number of reasons...

• Shows how long technology takes to reach the market - watch the history of the mouse, gui, personal workstation, etc.
• Raises issues about computing and the 'public'. What our tools have really allowed people to do. Programming languages are a big part of this.
• Besides being a smart guy, he is viewed as the creater of the workstation and the user interface as we know it.
