Do Exercise 6 from Chapter 2 in Bishop's book. Parts a and b are straightforward and can be answered with two or three sentences each. For part c, you first have to refine the question and explain what is being asked. Then you can answer the question. Instead of defining an example matrix, as you're asked in the last sentence, give a concrete example of a situation in which the "ancestor" idea might be used.
