Hey! If you found this page, you may be a Mudder wondering who the heck this is. I received one of the first dozen-or-so computer science degrees from HMC way back in 1997 and have been camping on this account ever since. I did most of my upperclass coursework with Mike and Ran, focused on networking and data compression.
My early career was at The Aerospace Corporation, where I worked on network and distributed computing R&D for national space programs. Then I rode the dot-com rollercoaster for a couple years, and helped build very early websites for customers including Hot Topic, Frito Lay, and Hallmark. I also worked for Agari Mediaware with a whole mess of Mudders until it shuttered. I went back to Aerospace and joined the MILSATCOM program office where I led various systems and network engineering efforts for TSAT.
I moved to Austin in 2010 and became director of engineering for a mobile game company and then later on for a venture group with interests in security, cryptocurrency, and immersive experience design. I became a regular at DEFCON around this time and have been on the second place team for the black badge TeleChallenge challenge twice.
For the last few years I've been working full time on the Jitsi video platform as principal engineer at 8x8. My primary day-to-day role is devops and I am also involved in system architecture, security, and AI efforts at the company. I'm a Google Summer of Code mentor for Jitsi.
I am always happy to chat with Mudders and help them out! Feel free to drop me a line if you need a connection in Austin, with Jitsi, or at 8x8.
My interests include privacy, security, the impact of the Internet on society, yoga, taiji, qigong, meditation, immersive art, CTFs, climbing, beer, photography, board games, consciousness, and music.
