audio selection:
Selection the includes playing the chord.
beginning slot:
A slot that never contains a chord. It is selected when the user wants to add a chord to the beginning of the chord set.
blank chord:
See empty chord.
chord:
A chord is a slot that can be edited, cleared, deleted, etc. It may contain zero or more notes and may or may not contain a chord title.
chord input box:
A standard text box which is used for entering chords with the tty keyboard.
chord name:
See chord title.
chord set:
All chords currently input.
chord title:
The user specified text above a chord.
clear:
When in reference to a chord, the action of removing all notes in the current slot and the chord title without removing the slot. When in reference to the display, removing all chords.
current chord:
See current slot.
current slot:
The slot on which actions specific to a chord will be performed.
cursor:
The highlighted box that indicates the current slot.
delete:
The action of removing all notes in the current chord, the chord title, and the slot the chord was in.
end slot:
A slot that never contains a chord. It is selected when the user wants to add a chord to the end of the chord set.
empty chord:
A chord that has no notes in it.
empty slot:
A slot that does not contain a chord. This includes the beginning and end slots.
insert:
The act of adding a new chord at any point in the chord set.
keyboard:
See MIDI keyboard.
ledger limit:
The highest note that can go on the treble clef or the lowest note that can go on the base clef.
MIDI keyboard:
The MIDI input device.
mid-ledger limit:
The lowest note that can go on the treble clef or the highest note that can go on the base clef.
paste:
The action of using the most recently cleared or deleted chord to replace the currently selected chord.
piano:
See piano display.
piano display:
The on screen representation of a piano keyboard.
scroll:
The process of changing the selected chord by clicking on a button which moves the cursor one slot to the left or right.
scroll arrow:
The arrows on the screen, not within the scroll area, which are use for scrolling.
selection:
The process of causing a chord to become the current chord. Will usually include playing the chord. See also visual selection and audio selection.
selected chord:
See current chord.
selected slot:
See current slot.
slot:
An area that has the ability to contain chords. Also, the beginning and end slots.
standard designation:
The designation of musical notes in which middle C is C4.
title:
The user specified text above the staff that refers to the whole chord set.
transpose arrows:
The arrows within a selected chord which, when clicked, transpose the chord up or down one half step.
tty:
See tty keyboard.
tty keyboard:
The computer keyboard.
visual selection:
Causing the chord to become the current chord. Does not include playing the chord.
