Friday November 5, 1:30 - 3:00 Met to discuss concept options. first idea as discussed in class is a turn based strategy RPG.

David wants ninjas. Johnny wants non-fantasy? Either way, lots of graphics, probably want music. We want cool animations for fights, ala Fire Emblem or... um... you know

Consider risks of other idea from yesterday, a car-combat game. Less music, less graphics, less content. Similar sounds. Complicated enemies. AI for turn based strategy, David discovers, for last year's team, they simply maximized damage to enemies and healing to teammates-- still a lookahead strategy design, that's complicated!

David proposes a game that we can have working to start and build up gradually. "I know! Pong!" Add ninjas to pong?

David and Johnny trade fun ideas for "Paddle Masters." Andrew sulks. He doesn't like pong

Johnny suggests a Robotron like game, shoot and move with two sets of controls. Probably wouldn't be too hard, but we put in nothing but "boss" fights.

Party discusses relative feasability of the ideas. Car combat is dropped by the wayside.

David agrees to send an e-mail to Z. He thinks Pong would turn out quite fun.

Later on we decide on the turn based strategy.

Wednesday November 11, 12:10 - 2:00 am Met in Andrew's room after PLs to further discuss our turn-based strategy rpg. A few ideas for themes were thrown around, but those were put on the backburner for now. We move to AMPM for bad food and on to a more fruitful discussion regarding what classes we will need and how they will interact with each other. We do a very rough dividing of the tasks and also work out what milestones we expect and when we should expect them. We create a powerpoint presentation to present the fruits of our midnight get-together.

November 14-16 In a series of discussions on AIM and in the LAC, team members worry about drawing options, and using openGL to do 2d. David and Johnny try and figure out ortho2d. Or putting images straight onto quadrilaterals in front of a camera? How to do transparent parts of an image is very important too. David considers using win32 functions to read in sprites and display them directly. Is this a good idea?

Johnny: text displayer has some problems. To add sound. Andrew: To fix some problems, allow attacking between players by Thursday. -- DavidCoyne - 30 Nov 2004
