Individual Log for Ben Pellow (Project 2, mini golf)

03/01/04 Built and help test the faces intersection code in the ball class. (4+ Hrs)

03/05/04 Built a new scene of multiple triangles, in this case four triangles making a pyramid, for testing. The collisions as of this point do not work with the new scene, while they did work with the single triangle scene. Ran tests on this case for a while without results of what was causing the failures. (3 Hrs)

03/08/04 Wrote the Formal Collision Test Plan in cooperative with Andrew, and typed and uploaded it to the wiki under the mini golf project section. (2 Hrs)

03/08/04 Coded the ability for our prototype to take commands from the keyboard. The possible commands made available are changing the ball's position and velocity, as well as the location of any of the vertices in the scene. There were problems originally with the fact that after changing the vertex's position the collisions wouldn't work. It took way too long to figure out if was because I wasn't standardizing the vertecies after the change. (2.5 Hrs)

03/09/04 Stayed up until late in the morning running test cases with forrest. See the test plan for all the cases we testd. (3 Hrs)

03/13/04 Downloaded Milkshape 3D and began tinkering with it. Read online tutorials about modeling with Milkshape and other 3D modelers. Read a long tutorial on modeling a human female (for inclusion in our game), but realized it is very hard and I might not be able to do it as planned. (4 Hrs)

03/14/04 Made the timer function for the game that calls update at a specific time interval. This will make the updating independent of the number of balls or amout of polygons in the scene. It should make the displaying appear more fluid. Also, made two commands for the game: (1) changing the camera height, (2) changing the camera radius. I made them error handled to take in all possible commands, and only change any camera settings in the case of proper input; otherwise, no changes are made and the game is resumed. (3 Hrs)

03/15/04 - 04/12/04 Due to inconvenient circumstances I have been left without regular fast internet access. I have been working on this project 10+ hours for the first week and 20+ hours for the last two or so. My work has consisted of mostly 3D modeling in Milkshape 3D. I did integrate my code with Forrest's on a few occasions to do small things like add levels. I added code for the levels I added, to set the holes, the starting positions, the cameras, and more. I constructed many objects that were not part of the final product, but helped in my knowledge and efficiency with the program (Milkshape 3D). I made the maze level, the castle level, and the islands level, as well as helped with the mushroom level design. Each of these first three I had to make a minimum of two times to get the look, feel, and play our team desired. (60+ hrs estimate) -- BenPellow - 01 Mar 2004
