GOALs
A deployment in the Bernard Field Station, BFS, can be used by biologists and ecologists to better understand how lizard habitats are affected by local phenomenon including temperature, light intensity, and noise. The deployment can act as a testbed for sensor network research including the development of easier to deploy hardware and software elements, improved interfaces to the network, and network protocol development.
Our immediate goals concern the development of a viable sensor network within the BFS. This involves choosing processors (motes), sensors (temperature, motion, humitity, etc.), in the creation of a network. We also are focused on creating a set of software tools that would make the network useable.
Finally, we are interested in installing new devices, e.g., cameras, and investigating their performance.
