I believe that increasing the power of the FBI is wrong. Who recently handed over 400 files incorrectly? I believe in allowing domestic encryption. I am against the clipper chip. There is no way that we will be able to stop terrorism by increasing survelliance. We should not employ that many federal agents. In order to have enough people to utilize the power that the federal government is asking for, we would need to hire many more people to be able to keep an eye on the population. More agents means more managers, which means more beauracracy. Worse, it means more places for a mole. Increasing the surveliance powers of the FBI does not solve the problem. It is a band-aid to a bigger problem. The larger problem is that many people in America are dissatisfied with life. People are hopeless and they feel they have nothing to live for. If a person is unable to get a satisfying job and unable to support their family, they are more likely than a happy well-adjusted citizen to turn their anger outward, place the blame elsewhere, join a milita or a hate group, and commit an act of terrorism.
