MIGHTY BAZOOKA
c1996 By Franz Keller
This is one of my favorite works.
Among the first few graphics that I did in mid 1993,
it was this one which convinced me that this media
was viable.
WHAT IS IT?
It's a small robot. He's wearing a hardhat. He's carrying a giant gatling-gun.
His arms and face are striped, like a tigers'.
CULTURAL NOTE
In Japan, the hardhats worn by construction workers are all marked
with a red cross (I don't know why), much like the one this fellow is wearing.
Of course, they don't have mechanical wings attached!
SUPERDEFORMED
In Japanese comics, or Manga, it's common to see
styalized child-like renderings of characters
even if said characters are actually full grown.
Basically, just imagine what someone would look like
As a small child, and draw it. This is superdeforming.
TECHNICAL DISCUSSION
This was first executed on an amateur grade draw program.
It was made from hundreds of overlayed simple polygons
because I had no way to join them into any complex form.
Looking back, I'm not sure how it was possible.
I added color and refinement on Adobe Illustrator two years later.
