This is the Apple Crumb Pie
ReciPe? that
SarahFletcher uses. She got it from some cookbook her mom has and has altered it a bit. It is yummy :)
Cooking materials:
- pie pan
- mixing bowl
- knife (for cutting apples)
- pastry blender (a fork or a knife can work if it must)
Ingredients:
- For filling
- 1 (9in) PieCrust
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 tbs flour
- ~1 teaspoon cinnamon
- one Sarah of ground cloves (if I had to guess I would say a rounded 1/2 tsp)
- 6-8 tart apples pared (ie peeled) , cored and sliced (6 cups)
- For topping
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
- Mix the sugar, flour and cinnamon for the filling
- Stir into sliced apples
- Dump apple mixture into pie crust (try to make it evenish)
- Mix the sugar and flour for the topping
- Cut the butter into the sugar/flour mixture
- For those who do not know baking terms, this means that you mix the butter into the flour/sugar mixture with the butter(still solid, it is generally easier if it is cold) so that you get a bunch of floury buttery sugary crumbles
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples
- Bake for 45-50 minutes (until the apples are cooked)
- If it is browning too quickly cover the edge with tin foil
