[Home]KnightsTale

A medieval peasant (Heath Ledger) passes himself off as a country knight in order to enter jousting competitions.

AlexBobbs did not like this movie very much. Aside from the idea of using the medieval era to highlight sports instead of swordplay, there was absolutely nothing original at all in this movie. To call it cliche would be an understatement. I was also disturbed by some incredibly bizzare coincidences in the plot (Chaucers as the boy's herald? And his blacksmith just so happens to invent steel? Give me a break!) along with a flurry of cultural anachronisms. Presumably the anachronisms are intentional, since I assume the director knew that peasants did not sing "We Will Rock You" at jousting matches, and that disco was not very popular in olde England, but they came across as just plain stupid.
