This assignment is due at 1:15 P.M. Tuesday, March 5, 2002. It must be slipped under the door of my office, Olin 1251, before that time, or turned in at the beginning of class that day.
The assignment consists of 14 problems selected from your textbooks. I expect that it will take approximately 3 hours to answer all of the problems.
|Tanenbaum||10.11, 10.15, 10.16, 10.28, 12.1, 12.4, 12.6|
|Singhal & Shivaratri||2.1, 2.3, 3.2, 3.3, 3.6, 3.9, 5.2|
The rate r in this problem refers to the number of requests per second. The costs Cda, Cdi, and Cdr are expressed as the percentage of the CPU that is lost to avoidance, detection initiation, deadlock resolution, respectively. Be sure you understand what the 70 percent refers to (i.e., don't get tripped up by a 1-x error.)
