Installing the top plate. The two tabs in the center hole must engage the shift cam pivot; this causes the hole for the top plate screw to align exactly with the hole in the holding pawl pivot. Don't worry about picking up the loop on the downshift lever return spring right now; that will come later. The holding pawl spring is shown in this photograph so that you can see how it connects, but you don't actually want to install it at this point.
