Where have all the Froggies Gone?
Uncle Bobby
When Nermit finally arrived at Uncle Bobby’s house, he was very glad to see his uncle.  Nermit sat down with Uncle Bobby on his deathpad, and they started to talk about why so many of the British frogs were becoming sick and dying.  Uncle Bobby told Nermit that he did not know why this was happening.  As Uncle Bobby was saying this, Nermit noticed that the air looked a little dirty – it smelled strange, too.  It even made Nermit cough a bit.  Just then, Nermit realized that maybe it was the dirty air that was making all the frogs sick!  Just like Uncle Bobby, most of the frogs in this area worked in the coal mines or in the factories where they made electricity by burning coal.  Nermit understood that this was causing a lot of pollution, which was making the frogs get sick!

Nermit discovered an important fact here.  He found out that pollution is an important cause of sickness and death in frogs and other amphibians, because they are especially sensitive.  That was why many people think that amphibians are good indicators of how healthy our planet is!
