AIDS Awareness Event

The first act was a rap group. Apparently they are quite well known in Cape Verde.

They seemed pretty good to me, but then again I don't know anything about rap.

This kid, Patrick, was an amazing dancer. He's 11 years old and is better than most of the adults.

One of the events was something they called "Big Show" and appeared to be a kind of fashion show for traditional Cape Verdean workers clothing.

The girl has a "pano" tied around her waist. Important part of Cape Verdian fashion. In this case it isn't doing much, but they use them for a variety of purposes.

Here the pano acts as a baby carrier. They also roll them up and use them as cushioning between their head and a heavy object (usually carried without hands).
