Game Description
You play as Guy DeSoto, who drives a stolen Campus Security golf cart. You control the cart using the arrow keys. You task is to deliver beer to all the parties on Pomona's North Campus to earn money. By doing this you can advance to the next level. Parties and partiers take beer in exchange for money. You can only carry a limited amount of alcohol, and must return to your stash to refill. Your health is decreased each time you run into a building, ending the game when it reaches zero. The game also ends if you are caught by Campus Security.
Differences From Initial Plan
Our final game is totally different from our initial idea. Originally, we had envisioned a game more like Pac-Man, with a system of corridors instead of an open space with obstacles. The health and alcohol systems were developed as a necessity when we fleshed our the game design. We made these changes very early in the conceptual phase. The final game is actually quite true to the game spec we presented in class. The only major difference is that we opted to make the starting point of the player consistent to prevent disorientation between levels.
Known Bugs
- The first partier on a level doesn't play a sound
- Bart's beer sound only plays once per level
- The message inbetween levels says "Pop" in the title bar
Easter Eggs
- The middle building of Athearn Court only extends a third of the way through the graphic. This means it's possible for the player to go through a "secret passageway" along the right edge of the map.
Possible Future Enhancements
- One of our beta testers suggested introducing substance free students, who would reduce your score if you touched them.
- Another tester asked about increasing the size of the map to include south campus.
- We wanted to include some sort of status bar to indicate health and alcohol levels. These would either be at the top of the screen or follow the player around.
- Someone also suggested annoying theme music...
- Several people suggested a rotating graphic to represent the cart. We had already considered this, but all the alternatives were infeasible for our time frame. However, these could be implemented in the future.
