Blue was Nico and Jacoby, jack was Maddie and Mia, and curd was Tilo and Rui. Awesome job on being selected by some of your peers as their favorite patch! But besides these winners, pretty much everyone wrote solid code, which is great!
However, the winner of the patch peer review for Homework 3 is the group feta, which was actually Prof. Melissa.
What!!! That's so not fair!
Meh. I totally knew it. She, like, overdid it with the comments, and the overcomplicated “gotta be correct” code. Didn't she tell us worse is better?
Yeah, but I think she just can't help herself.
Way to stack the deck though. We all got
fetato review, and only some of each other's groups, so she was always gonna win.
Actually, it's not always as clear-cut as that. The choices made in the
fetapatch might rub some people the wrong way.
Yeah, so she wasn't sure whether anyone would actually like it.
So, are you going to slide in a Prof. Melissa patch in the next round of patch peer reviews? And will she be mad at us if we say mean things about her code because we don't realize it's hers?
Well, in this case there was something different about the approach, so pedagogically it was valuable to include it. Will it be worth it to do the same for this assignment…? Who can say…
And as for saying mean things, on the one hand, remember that the code you're reviewing was written by human beings, so it's always good to take a kind tone. But there are always trade-offs in code, and people can disagree about what's best. So, no, she won't mind if you have a different perspective from hers.
