While probably not the
LunarEclipsePicnic in question, such an outing occured halfway up MtBaldy
? in the lats 1990's (think 1997 or 1998). Martinelli's was enjoyed a ruddy moon was gazed upon, and life was good. People in attendance included:
any many others!
The "picnic in question" had a worse view of the moon, but a better view of assorted HVAC and fume hood equipment.
