Not the same as
WikiName. This is the Wiki Name Plural Problem, and is best avoided by keeping
WikiNames singular.
Actually, it is now possible to use redirects to solve this problem. Simply replace all of the text on a page with the single line:
#REDIRECT OtherPage
Now OtherPage will load when you follow a link to the original page. This is especially useful for hard-to-pluralize words (child/children).
- Note that child is actually quite easy to pluralize by adding "ren" to the end.
- Historically, you're adding -er to the end, and then adding -en to the end, and removing the other e for pronounciation reasons. I would say that's a difficult work indeed to pluralize. But practice at it, you'll get better.
Maybe im just being persnickety, but redirecting seems to be a much less elegant solution than "word''''''s" as a way of handling plurals. I know, WankWankWank.
- Then again, the whole six-single-quotes thing seems awkward to me as well. And when redirects really shine is when you've got irregular pluralizations (Freshmen).
- The two-double-quotes thing is a bit nicer, though.
