Jeff's Homepage

Welcome to the homepage of Jeff Hartline, semi-student at Christopher Newport University (Virginia). This homepage is temporarily finished, though I hope to work on it much more when I return from my three week long trip to Germany (I leave Sunday June 18)
Well, that's all, I hope you enjoy what I have so far--this being my first homepage I'm still learning, so maybe you could send suggestions to me at jhartlin@pcs.cnu.edu.
Here are a few pictures I am putting right up front until I find time to organize them better. I admit the quality isn't great, but I should get better pictures when my film returns from Seattle FilmWorks. I have a picture of The Merlin, Me in Germany, Me (another bad picture), and MY CAT, KITZ. Enjoy!

Welcome:

Hello, I am a 15 year old caucasion male living, at the moment, in York Town, Virginia. If you haven't guessed yet, my name is Jeff Hartline (with several middle initials). I go to school at...several places, primarily York High School, futuristically New Horizons, and every semester I take a course here at CNU (Cristopher Newport University. In the future, there will be a picture here of me if I ever figure out how to do that. But...
I am roughly 5'8" (170 cm.) and weigh approximately 135 pounds (62 kg.). I have brown hair (cut to eye-level) and brown eyes and often wear a Maiu Surf hat (although I don't surf).

Interests:

Internet interests:

  • FUN STUFF (like MOOs and MUSHes)
  • MORE FUN STUFF (like getting help on homework)
  • OTHER FUN STUFF (like meeting cool people from Australia)
  • EVEN MORE FUN STUFF (like having an excuse to avoid boring school work)
Note that my previous I-net experience was generally centered around M*s and only recently am I beginning to learn of the many other uses of the internet (such as home pages and mosaic). Also I am beginning to learn how to program in C++, and the internet provides many experienced programmers to ask for help if I need any.

    Computer interests:

  • INTERNET (see above)
  • Fun computer games
  • Computer programming (in C++). Although currently the only non-class programming I do is centered on games, I'm looking into this as a possible career.
  • Writing (lyrics and prose). On the various M*s I'm on I most appreciate the oppurtinity to desc (describe rooms or objects) and RolePlay through vivid creative writing.

    Athletic interests:

--You name it! I play just about anything you can think of (strong emphasis on 'just about').
  • VOLLEYBALL (beach). If you live locally and play or would like to play beach volleyball but don't have a partner MAIL ME!!! I love volleyball and view myself as quite good, only I have no one to team up with.
  • PING-PONG, if you want a match I'm game anytime.
  • Sailing, I sail every so often down a local river with some friends.
  • Soccer
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Frisbee
  • Pool (billiards), I'm especially talented at sinking the cue ball!

    Academic interests:

School generally bores me (except computer programming), so my school interests and future academic prospects are fairly minimized. I'm not sure what college I'll be going to, but I'm fairly positive I'll be majoring in some type of computer course. I'm planning on a career involving computers and C++, but have no idea what/where/when/how its gonna be. Next year (1995-96) is my junior year at York, I should be taking:
    %AP history
    %11th Grade Accelerated English
    %Bio/Chem (New Horizons)
    %Calculus II (New Horizons)
    %2nd Semester C++ (at CNU)
%((One other course at York High, possibly Art))

    Hobbies:

  • RolePlaying Games (primarily AD&D 2nd Edition, but I'll play just about any thing).
  • On-line RolePlaying
  • DragonLance series and Wheel of Time (Robert Jordon). I'm too consumed by I-net M*ing to read much else, and although I've promised several people to look into many a good series I doubt I ever will.
  • Magic, the Gathering (also known as Magic, the Obsession).
  • Flying kites (dual stringed, of course)
  • Bowling (but not too much, only every so often)
  • Creative writing (most often fantasy/fiction style)
  • Song-writing (lyrics only, I'm musically/verbally challenged)

    Favorites:

    Cold apple cider
    Pizza, breadsticks, and garlic bread
Home-made hamburger subs (salsbury steak, spices, and cheese on a subroll)
Robin Hood, Prince Of Thieves; Far and Away; Short Circuit II (#5!!!)
Eagles, Pink Floyd, Rush, Bon Jovi, Jimmy Buffet
    Star Trek (TNG)
Margarret Wiess and Tracy Hickman (DragonLance)
Z-104, FM 99, THE FOX (radio stations)
    Rallies (Big Bueford Combo)

    M*s (MOOs, MUDs, and MUSHes)

Currently I admininstrate on two MOOs, play on one MUSH, and (every so often) connect to one MUD. I original discovered the internet for MUDing (multi-user-dungeons) but now much of my time is spent on MOOs (mud, object-oriented) and MUSHes instead, both of which focus more on RolePlaying and pre-made environments.
AngrealMOO is a MOO based on Robert Jordon's Wheel of Time series.)
TaverenMOO is currently under construction and not yet open to newcomers, also based on the Wheel of Time series.)
Acer Isle is my roleplaying MUSH, it's a really neat place and I suggest it to any intense RPers.
Farside MUD is my first ever M*, and generally a cool place if you ever wanna check it out.

    OTHER STUFF

Well, that's about it at the moment. If you have any suggestions please send them to jhartlin@pcs.cnu.edu. Also, if you know how to program in auto-mail into a homepage, please mail me and tell me because for some reason the commands I got aren't working for it. Second, if you know how to make a large or small font, please tell me because the commands I got for that _also_ aren't working right. Third, if you know how to include picture files (gifs etc.) on a homepage and don't mind explaining a little bit to me I'd much appreciate it. Lastly, if you know how to add color to a html home file I'd like to be told that also.
If you have any suggestions or comments on typoes (like this one) or errors or anything else on this homepage please mail me with them. Hopefully I will soon have an actual picture (soon=at the end of this summer because I'm going to Germany for 3 weeks soon) of myself on this homepage. So long!!! -Jeff
