Before you start to complete this form, it is sensible to read it over to make sure you can answer the questions it asks, since there is no facility to save a half-completed application (other than leaving this window open in your browser).

Also, before completing this form make sure you have read all the steps necessary for applying, including preparing your CV and personal statement and requesting that transcripts are mailed to us by your registrar.

(Note: Students from Harvey Mudd College should not use this form. It is intended for external applicants to the REU only. HMC students should use our internal research form.)

The fields in bold are required. Other fields are optional. In particular, the “Notes/Comments” field allows you to provide atypical information that will not easily fit into the preset fields of the form. If there is an apparent problem with one of your entries, it will turn red after you enter it, otherwise data you enter will turn green.

Fundamentals

The NSF requires that participants in our REU program are US residents who are enrolled in an undergraduate program at the time of the REU. Thus, graduating seniors cannot participate.
