Midterm

The midterm is released on Monday, March 23 at 5 p.m..

You must complete the examination by Monday, March 30 at 5 p.m.. You cannot use any late days to extend the due date of the exam.

Once started, you have 120 minutes to complete the exam.

There are six questions. You may work on the questions in any order, and you may switch between them as much as you like.

The link to the midterm page won't be revealed until you've answered the questions below.

Loading the midterm page starts the exam.

Read each of the following items and check the box to indicate that you understand the rules for doing the midterm:

The exam must be taken in exam conditions. You may not talk to anyone else, or get help from anyone else. It must be entirely your own work.
This is an open-book, open-notes exam.
You are recommended to have paper and pencil available to work out problems by hand, but you may not use a calculator or any other electronic devices (other than the computer you're using to take the exam).
You may not use any online resources (e.g., Google, Stack Overflow, ChatGPT) or any other resources other than your own notes and the course materials.
You have 120 minutes to complete the exam, and you must submit your answers by the end of the exam's time limit. If you have an accommodation that gives you extra time, ensure Prof. Melissa is aware of this before you start the exam.
The exam must be taken in a single sitting. (You can take a stretch break or a bathroom break, but you cannot stop the clock and come back to it later.)
Any work not submitted by when the exam period ends will not be accepted by the system and any partial answers will be lost. Always submit your answers as you do the exam.
You can change your answer for a question by resubmitting it. You can do so as many times as you need to, up to the end of the exam period.

Here are a few reminders about taking the exam. Check the boxes to indicate that you understand these tips:

Read each question carefully and make sure you understand what is being asked before you start writing your answer.
If you get stuck on a question, move on to another question and come back to the stuck question later. Don't spend too much time on any one question.
Always give some answer to a question. Even if it's not a perfect one, partial credit is better than no credit, and you might get some points for a partially correct answer.
If you have time at the end, review your answers and make sure you've answered all the questions and that your answers are as complete and clear as you can make them.
Looking back at your notes can take a lot more time than you expect. It may be best to answer the questions based on what you remember, and save looking back at your notes for the end when you have time to review your answers.
