Find Your Partner for Homeworks 1–3

Homeworks 1, 2 and 3 are done in pairs, and this page is where pairing happens. You can find your own partner or ask us to assign you one—both are fine, and neither is better than the other.

Whatever you decide, tell us here by Wednesday, September 2 at 11:59 PM. If we haven't heard from you by then we will assign you a partner, and you will lose some points on Homework 0 for it.

Pair Within Your Section

Because class time is largely homework time, you must partner with somebody in your own class section. You will also work together outside class, so check that your schedules actually overlap somewhere before you commit.

What the Buttons Do

• I'm looking for a partner puts you on the list so other people can find you. You can take yourself off it again.
• Invite asks a specific person. They see it as a notification next time they load a page, and they can accept or decline.
• Ask staff to assign me hands the job to us. This is a perfectly good choice—plenty of people would rather not shop a list—and it is not a worse outcome than choosing. It is only worse if you leave it until after the deadline, because by then we are guessing.

Once a pair is sealed you will both get a notification, and your pair gets a name of its own.

If Something Goes Wrong

Partnerships occasionally do not work out. That is a normal thing and not a disaster—come and talk to us in lab, at office hours, or at grutoring hours, and we will sort it out. Do not suffer in silence, and do not simply stop replying to your partner.
