As most of the Dorm Scrippsies who have traditionally read and edited our
HumPapers have now passed on to the real world, at the last East Dorm Meeting,
FrancesHocutt,
MarissaQuitt, and (to his great amusement)
RichardMehlinger were named
DormScrippsies, and given the noble duty of helping to ensure that East Dorm Residents pass their Hum classes. Look us up if you ever need feedback on a paper, need something proofed, or want us to hemorrhage red ink all over your work.
- Am I the only one who finds the title slightly strange, like "Mudders can't write HumPapers"?
- No. I find it vaguely disturbing, especially since PomonaJosh, who was not a DormScrippsie?, read more HumPapers than I ever did. And, most notably, he was not a ScrippSie. I'd much rather the discussion of DormScrippsies talk about us and not be a restatement of HumMajor. If I get a chance soon, I'll rework it. --MiriamLeisman
- To be fair, at the dorm meeting where each of the volunteers were assigned, Hum volunteers were given the title DormScrippsies.
- By majority shout and without asking them if they wanted the title, yes. -FrancesHocutt
- The dorm has better ways of making decisions?! Hrm...maybe we should have called for a closed-eye vote. --MacKenzieStuart
- I wasn't at the dorm meeting where this was decided, unfortunately. If the HumHelpers? don't object, I'd rather have some sort of disambiguation for the use of DormScrippsie? as HumHelper and DormScrippsie? as actual Scrippsie. Referring to both groups, even if all of us Scrippsies are gone for now, as Dorm Scrippsies is quite confusing. Especially since I got most of my HumPaper help from Mudders this year; calling them DormScrippsies continues to imply that Mudders can't write which might bother Mudders who can write. --MiriamLeisman
