CS 159 Character Guessing Game!
Just like in CS 70, CS 159 has a colorful cast of characters that accompany you through the lessons. Some of the characters are carried over from CS 70, but there are a few new faces...
Most prominently, you may notice that the cows are gone, and the instructors are represented by us parrots!
And there's also some new "student" faces...
There's me, your mysterious new friend! ("Student A")
And me...I think? ("Student B")
(Sound of shuffling pages) I am also here. ("Student C")
These characters were not chosen randomly; there is an underlying theme! Instead of just telling you what it is, the instructors would like to (just for fun) challenge you to guess what each of these characters represents.
The answers will be revealed at the end of the semester, along with the name(s) of the student(s) who made the most correct guesses. The winner may be eligible for a meaningless prize! (but they must cross a bare-minimum threshold of two correct guesses) Googling is allowed.
Hint: Every character is somehow relevant to NLP. Prof Chang will be keeping track of guesses; if nobody has crossed the two-correct-guess minimum by the midterm, this page will be updated with a more specific hint.
