CS 159

Lesson Content & Weekly To-Do Lists

CS 159 uses a semi-flipped model. Each week (until the final project / special topics period), the first class session (Tuesday) will consist of a traditional in-class lecture, which will be followed up with supplementary online flipped content which builds upon the concepts taught in lecture.

In general, the lectures cover foundational NLP theory, math, and algorithms, while the online readings explore real-world connections and/or modern NLP methods that are related to that week's lecture material.

The page for each week contains a link to the lecture slides (posted after the lecture) and to the online lesson content for that week. Online lessons should be completed before the following week's lecture at latest, but I encourage you to do them early, since lab assignments may rely on concepts from both the lecture and the online lessons.

Next Week

This is the page for next week. None of the content will be accessible until after next week's lecture, but you can click if you want to look ahead at what topics will be covered.

Past Weeks

These lessons should be done by now. If you don't see a green check next to the week, you have some parts still incomplete.

(When logged in, completion status appears here.)
